Phase two – Development and testing
Gallery visit – Jason Woodside
I attended the opening night of the Jason Woodside exhibition in Bricklane. This exhibition really appealed to me for two reasons. Firstly, Woodside is a graffiti and mural artist. My background of art and design has come from painting graffiti for nearly 10 years and i was really interested to see the transition he made from graffiti to art. Additionally he works a lot with collage and layers, something i am also currently producing in my studio practice. However Woodside combines the two. Since university i have kept my graffiti work separate from my studio practice, however this exhibition has really inspired me to start combining the two and incorporating my old graffiti pieces in to my collages. I think it would really fit with the theme of fashion, culture and identity as graffiti has become some what of a trend.
